She Wasn't Sad Anymore

by wolfinwindow

black mountains and purple sky
the smell of cool pine permeates the air
sometimes it's damp but we don't notice
with the fires that blaze and flare
and the action in the camp was so full of gaiety
there was music and there was wine
as the gypsies we'd joined settled in
along the snake river they thought was fine
the music was lively, soulful and exotic
barefoot in the Oregon soil
long beaded hair dancing the primal
dance of the wild, the homeless child
the baby of the bunch of gypsies
fourteen, found when she was ten
she'd been deserted by mom and dad
she wasn't sad anymore...
we talked in the black mountains
under the purple sky

I love the story telling quality of this one and the imagery is fantastic. flows like music.
