White lines race past me
heading to where I've been
endless and forever afront of me
red tail lights shine like stars
A highway life becomes a way of life
fellow truckers become family
towns become just another room in my home
this truck cab, just an extention of me
In the dark of morn
while dreams still chase the minds of most
I blend to become one with the hi-ways and bi-ways
with out second guess, arriving at my destination
In this solitary world of the truck driver
I have time to see and watch a world
that does not stop for anything
especially for a truck driver

cool occupational piece.....there is a technical art to them i find very appealing.....like....reality poetry  nice work poet

My friend Thank you. I enjoy it to a point. $am starts are wearing thing and the company needs to get back on the ball with truck maintenance. What started as a 6-3 job became a 3-4/5 job, but the money is good and it's a permanent job (rare in today's society). plus it's 5 days a week compared to my last one which was 6/7 days and weather controlled. Jack I agree, in adding to what I have just said to Sir Rondo, the sitting does get to you although I could get in and out of my truck from up to 4-17 times a day. But my wife is the one that suffers. She worries(as most truck drivers partners do.) that we will not come home. But that is a risk every person takes going to work every day, not just us. you paint a great picture of another world for me dave. i can't even drive, let alone imagine driving for hours on end. still there must be a certain freedom to it. it's better than having some idiot telling you what to do all day.

Country usually, but depends on what station I can tune into on the truck wireless. It has a CD player. but always forget to bring any. All music is good music when alone on the "Tar Track". Cheers mate dAVE

white line fever... sounds like a lonely and thankless life but I guess truckers do what they do because it's a part of who they are.
