Saturday Afternoon.

It is 12:15 pm we are still in bed.
Tucked under the safety
of our thick red comforter
the warm scent
of chestnuts and titine no. 9,
finds a home within my pores.
I breathe you in,
thinking about our first summer
in the Castle IN THE SAND HOTEL.
 
                           Brown fur
puffs the air as Diesel pounces
on your belly. His purr twirls and hums
as he curls between us.
 
                            The sun
peaks and you rub your eyes
twice, smearing an eyelash across
your salt and pepper beard.
 
                 “hey, Diesel kitty”
He seems to smile,
though one can never be certain
about these things. But, your eyes
grin at me and I know, he is a little boy,
our little boy.
 
                           You ask him,
if he wants to make some coffee.
It is, after all, 12:40 on a Saturday afternoon.
