Things You Miss

The icicles below the eaves,
the steamy cup, the warming kiss,
the festive lights on snowy lanes-
oh, let me be the things you miss.

The novelty of shorter sleeves,
the early morning’s noisy bliss,
the quiet grandeur of the rain-
oh, let me be the things you miss.

The rockets and the colored weaves,
the evenings when we'd reminisce,
the stillness of the weather vane-
oh, let me be the things you miss.

The turning of the autumn leaves,
the radiator’s waking hiss,
the comfort of a passing train-
oh, let me be the things you miss.

I love how perfectly the "passing train" fits into autumn! A great poem - the four seasons approach is beautiful and effective.
