taking the last train to clarksville, davy was a day dream believer
and his band was a pleasant valley sunday.

I was surprised to hear he passed away. The Monkees gave me a lot of enjoyment when I was growing up. RIP indeed.

yes. i never heard a bad word about the monkees...it wasn't their fault that they were the first boy band. they couldn't have forseen what it was going tp produce - paul and the monkee pup.

a nice manchester lad that did well for himself glen. check out some of the less known monkees tunes like " porpoise song " and " that was then. this is now " - paul.

I saw a few of their shows and the music was great - he was a little bundle of energy for sure..sad but in passing they become legends..he will be in great company...  -Phoebe

i used to watch the monkees t.v. show every saturday morning when i was a kid. they outsold the beatles and the rolling stones combined in 1967.
why can't the women who tore pics of davy jomes out of magazines in dentists waiting rooms in 1968 get the same coverage as three hours for whitney houston? - " i wanna be free " whipi - paora and puppy

seems all these rock and roll stars are programmed to self destruct mate....a nice guy though. did a lot for charities. like when joe strummer of the clash died and it turned out that he'd been giving all his money to donkey sanctuaries and saving rhinos and elephants for years and never told anybody about it - look up " elefriends " - day dream believer.

I remember my brothers and sisters lined up on grandpappys bed watching the monkeys. He was too young to have a heart attack. What a sad ending.

he was the little cute english one that i bet you and your sisters had a crush on wolfie. have you ever heard that mike nesmith version of " flying down to rio"? - a much underated band in my opinion - a furry monkey.

Davy was cute and perky and talented and even our parents didn't seem to mind if we listened to the Monkees... like they were almost acceptable, compared to (insert your choice of mad memorable musicmakers). Oh, Rest in Peace, sweet Davy Jones - you are gone far before your time. Thanks Paul - for this. Mary Ann

gone way too soon - I feel as though a little slice of my teenage years has been taken away! He was, from all I've read from ordinary folks who had the pleasure to meet him in person, he was very down to earth, humble and very approachable. So sad - R.I.P. Davy!! (a lovely tribute by the way).

thanks sandy. all the monkees seemed like nice people. i used to watch the monkees t.v. shows every saturday morning when i was a kid...they sort of fell out of favour with the music industry in the 70's. i never understood why. i mean, i'm an out and out rocker, but i've got the monkees and mozart in my collection too...guess it doesn't pay to be a nice guy nowadays - paul.

though most of the music i listen to, is pretty serious stuff, i do like the fun side too....you don't have to be a sulky drug addict to be a musician....though it sometimes helps - paul and the believer hound.

I used to watch the show when I was younger and couldn't wait for the next episode. A shame he passed away, but he turned many into daydream believers, I think. RIP .

me too paula. they used to show " the monkees " t.v. show right before " happy days " here. when we were kids, we always used to say " i'll meet you after happy days "...and someone was always humming a monkees tune on our crappy 1970's wooden skateboards.....to quote the comedian steven wright " nostalgia.......it ain't what it used to be ". - mike nesmith's hat
