Poems - What have they become?

What have they become?

Same old conversation, she asks about his day.
He shrugs, says let's go eat.
He asks about her day not because he cares
but because he thinks he has to ask.

She begins to spell out every detail about her day,
he hears the words but doesn't listen,
he's thinking of the fun filled days.
She notices his distractions and begins to analyze him.
No longer sees the man she was attracted to,
only a fat empty shell of what he used to be.
He also checks her out at the same time others passing by,
stares and makes comparisons, wondering what happened
to the nice tight figure that she used to have.

Doesn't make much sense why they're living life this way,
go to work and come home late, eat bad food
and the children just the same, attending school, activities,
learning their habits as well.

There's no passion in their lives.
There's no wisdom in their ways.
Look of zombies in their eyes.
Same routines all of their days.
