shadowwinter

by butterflyzrfree

but the lovely mild winter
barely scraped a knee
some cold winds to remind us
that it was not supposed to rain
huge mountains of sand
by the snowplow trucks.
crocus bust out everywhere
then daffodils and now they
died as the others pop out
for a couple of days but plants
like humans, prefer their routines
and a tree shed all its buds
on a cold night.
mourning the silhouette
of winter shards
hidden in puddles.

i like the use of s words ( scraped, shadow, snowplow, silhouette, shards etc ). they all have a wintery feel to them. the shadows are getting shorter here as the sun rises higher.......or maybe i'm getting shorter ha ha - pauly and shadowhound.
