Catacombs

a statement must be made
about the memories marked
in every ancient tomb.

the catacombs is
a storage of souls;
mentality turned
into transcendence.
where skulls remain
is where sapience
sculpts the tombs
with precious measure.

we yearn to spill life
into our loved ones
but we are far too weak.

I visited once the catacombs of Paris. Some things take my breath away. This poem does that for me.

Ah, Doris mentioned the catacombs of Paris, which immediately came to mind as I read your poem. That time runs out on even bones and souls takes great skill to put in verse. Really well done, Mary Ann
