self-portrait

.


i smoke curling lithps

thru blue crooked lips

my jaw craggles past my stubbled

never mind

chin wombs into ears

hanged pierced with studded lost finds

water eyes blur. smudged.

under lashes self inflicted fears.

along out lined profiles trudged

skin folds stretched onto bone

and all of this draped

over presence. that has to be home

The honesty required in any self portrait is scary. it takes guts to this. You see yourself as that bad in the mirror? I see myself that bad too. Yet others do not. This poem is outstanding and exceedingly cool and I love it. Gail

    gaily - like anything, especially in art/poetry - honesty is a pre-requisite for true value to be present. and in that sense what or how i 'see' myself, is inextricably linked to how i 'feel' about and within myself.

    just returned from a short stint in europe. ovehwlemed by coming back to a tsunami of realities...

    thanks for touching base.

    hope to be able to come up for some air - and some (poetic) interactivity - in the coming week/s..

    met with a cousin of allen ginsberg whilst in france. talk about cosmic marbles!
