Poems - Uniquely Yours
| | Uniquely Yoursby maryanns
There came a time when passion’s warmth
was pressed from hand to heart intact
in tenderness of shallow breaths beside a hearth
embraced in expectation of the warmth of love.
Although the time grew short for evermore
as light turned dark and stormy skies descend
from every side, life lingered in the comfort
of togetherness beyond the touch of time.
His music neither stopped nor paused aloft
in strange and strangled chords of loss
nor spoke of afterthoughts in choruses of cause
he set his clocks, then left while life dissolved.
Uniquely yours, with pen in hand professed
without regret, within his silence lies the rest
like fragrant summer daisies paper pressed
in sheets of missing music, nothing less.

This poem made me a little sad, especially the ending of it. However, music never stops. You have a wonderful heart, Maryann. A beautiful piece.

It is sad, although I tried to leave it open for interpretation a bit... I guess I'm still cleaning cobwebs out of my attic from last year's divorce. It just takes time... Thanks so much, my friend - Mary Ann

Thanks, Kyle - it's a "sweeping out the attic" poem, perhaps a good candidate for meter analysis, eh? I know it's a rather raw but I'm so glad you enjoyed those lines. Take care, Mary Ann

cleanin out the attic, eh? yeah well sometimes ya gotta do that so you can make room for more stuff...
the alliteration and rhyme give this a melodic quality. i caught myself humming as i was reading in my head and then gave it a sing-song tone when i read it out loud. beautifully done, sis. hope you don't get a headache from clearin out those cobwebs. big hugs. chris.

G'day Maryann...
You say cleaning out the attic...we say kangaroos in the top paddock. I guess the best way is to listen to the music, but interpret its meaning in another way.
Thanks once again maryann for another of your unique poems.
