Poems - No One Knows
| | No One Knowsby Zbird
She stands on the shore
counts how long it takes
each wave to reach her,
measures her breaths to
the rhythm of the waves.
The water washes across her
defenseless exposed feet.
Another step and another
she calmly walks until
the waves consume her
become one with her being
become her life and breath.
Her journey is no longer
in her a conscious act.
The waves move her further
out each time they roll away
from the desolate shore.
She surrenders her will
allows the waves to carry her
where they will in their wild
dance of life and death.
The shoreline is quiet now
as is her hurt and pain.
No one knew she was there.
No one knows she’s gone.

Each line folded into the next so well. I hung onto each line. I have much to learn from you. Great write. An emotional journey very well told. An amazing talent Zbird. Great write.

This is indeed dark. I enjoyed the line 'The shoreline is quiet now as is her hurt and pain'. Also words like- shore, breaths, waves, wild dance, etc. all have a great significance.

G'day Bonnie...
Loved the intrigue you left me with. Plenty to think about in your poem. What or who drove her there?
Thank you again Bonnie.

There's a fine short novel by Kate Chopin which ends with an image like this. Very well done, Bonnie, I like the way you avoid being oversentimental while still getting your point through.

i can't tell you how many times i've stood on a shoreline and wondered what would happen if i just kept walking into the waves...obviously i never have or i wouldn't be typing this! but the thought has crossed my mind more than once. you captured the image beautifully.

Lovely poem on acceptance. Acceptance and impermanence are two things I have come to terms with in the last year.
