Poems - Just Wondering
| | Just Wonderingby maryanns
Wonder what today will bring
a blast of winter, kiss of spring?
Wonder what today will bring.
Wonder if the dawn will rise
in thunder storms or sunny skies?
Wonder if the dawn will rise.
Wonder if the sky will fall
in sheets of hail or bitter squalls?
Wonder if the sky will fall.
Wonder if the sun will shine
on Aberdeen, it might be time.
Wonder if the sun will shine.
Wonder if the spring will come
by May or June or neither one?
Wonder if the spring will come.
Wonder why I wonder why
it doesn’t matter, though I try.
Wonder why I wonder why.

'Twas just another rainy day... not sure if I should thank or blame the weather for this poem, but I'll try almost anything. Thank you so much for reading and for such positive feedback, greatly appreciated. Love and peace and all best wishes, Mary Ann

I love this form - not sure what it is called? This was such a fun read and I find myself asking the same questions here in VA - wonder why - we have hardly any winter this year, then we have some HOT days, followed by a couple of days that are like the winter (you know the one we didn't have this year) - it is definitely weird - and your poem just asked a lot of those same questions, only much much better!

Ha, I don't know if the form has a name either. It was a fun rainy day project, but I may be wailing too much about the weather lately. Truly tickled you enjoyed it, Sandy. 'Ol rusty and moldy Mary Ann

Mary Ann..this has got to be a blues song. I hear a slide guitar. The use of repetition is so perfect, and I like the reference to Aberdeen. It makes this personal..and yet, there is a universal longing and a list of questions I think everyone has sometimes. Great stuff.
Maybe you and I should resurrect that Lyricists' Lounge.
That being said..I don't know if you intended for this to be lyrics. Forgive me if I branded it otherwise.

I'm always up for interpretation (!!), that's what I enjoy most about receiving comments. Tee-hee, this is the one I mentioned in the forum; thanks so much for finding music in it.
I would love to see the Lounge vibrant and active again... although my personal musical muse definitely comes and goes. Believe me I've tried, we need to recruit, recruit, recruit...
I'll try to remember to drop by and see what's cookin' - Thanks again, Hugh. Happy Easter, Mary Ann

The form is interesting and very appealing. The weather that the poem is about seems to be a metaphor for a much darker question. I really enjoyed this.

Yes, I think so, too. It depends on ones perspective, life is generally what we make of it, eh? Thanks for stopping in, Chris - your feedback is very much appreciated. Best wishes, Mary Ann

Mary Ann... I saw on the weather map what was headed your way and funny my mind was on you and your garden. We got a little nip in the air here. I have been so busy in my garden and have had little time for social media. My back feels like a distraction from every thing. Then on top of that my pig had little ones and she trying to make my spare time consist of fixing her pin where she seem to be trying to show me where she can break out next. I do have a finial answer for her soon as she weens the little ones. Do you hear something frying?
People were telling me I better look for a late frost; so far just cool weather.
My best wishes for you and your garden. I am thinking of my home grown tomatoes; beats the hell out of the store bought ones. Cleaning one on my sleeve till it shines and taking a bite.

Woo-wee James, so good to hear from you! Here I was thinking you'd be gardening and chasing baby goats... who knew you'd be gardening and fencing in piglets! Ha, I've been replacing fence and trying to kitty-proof it, as well. Some say that's impossible...
We'll be waiting just a little bit longer to plant tomatoes, still occasional frost on our bird feeders per my friend Mary over in Hoquiam, but I can hardly wait. Yes, they sure do beat store bought, ha-ha no kidding!
Take care and don't work too hard, my friend! Thanks again, sending you lots of smiley faces, Mary Ann
