The old fisherman

I see the old man still, in waxed and feathered cap
In tweed he wore and legs of green, a creel upon his back
He would cast his line amidst the flow, and teach me all he knew
I still see him in the dawn light, and the twilights feathered trill

Crikey! This could be me that you have written about; although I wore different attire. Plastic pants and gum boots.
Snakes were a problem when I fished rivers and creeks.
