Poems - When Girls Wore Shiny Stars in Their Hair
| | When Girls Wore Shiny Stars in Their Hairby Zbird
What happened to our generation
who danced in the night air,
sang songs of love and peace
and girls wore shiny stars in their hair?
We dressed in granny dresses
wore sandals on our feet,
refused to shave our legs
ate veggies instead of meat,
We stood up for all women
regardless of political belief,
someone stole our morals
and I want to catch that thief.
We refused to “make-up” for being women
stood together strong and tall,
arm in arm we banded
for we were women one and all.
Now women have become divided
by so many political lies,
we’ve fallen for phony issues
don’t hear each others cries.
Some let others lash out
call us horrendous names,
somehow we got caught up
in political warfare games.
We need to stand united
remember what is just and fair,
go back to the times
girls wore shiny stars in their hair.

A well worded and excellent write. I like the message that you conveyed in this. A wonderfully writ poem! I don't understand why it was rated a 1 though... Well, anyway I like it and think it's a powerful piece!

somebody gave you a one. it must be someone who never saw the stars bonita.
give me hairy, un made up women who play the guitar and cut their own hair anytime..rather than bleached blonde, fake tan plastic tits women - got some shiny stars right here - paul.

you really got it right with this one. what happened to the times when women defended any other woman being abused whether physically or verbally and now it seems you have to be a certain political party to get any backing. good job on this one.

Who would give this powerful poem a one?
I remember those days myself. There were a Lot
of real women back then. Now we have. No heroines.
very well said, Bonnie. Hugs

G'day Bonnie...
It's the backroom faceless people with commercial interests with political agendas who decide both men and women's call for fairness Bonnie. We just keep their fires alight with our strong beliefs and often end up being let down, as you have written.
Thank you Bonnie

I know I'm young but you've said so your self I have a wise mind. I'm honestly tired of the way guys expect us to look and act. its like" I'm sorry but I dont wear make-up everyday and I dont shave everytime I shower. I see no point in it. and yes if I'm upset with you I'm going to straight out tell you whats wrong and expect you to try and work it out, i dont care if you get upset too. thts the point of working and talking things out. "but ya know now a days girls let people walk all over them most of the time

i think the women changed sometime during the bra burning era but it would be nice if women stood by each other as they did back then but to it might be about religion as women dont do like they did way back in time i dont no as guess your guess is as good as mine but i enjoyed the poem you wrote it did bring up somethings in my mind about olden days but like i said am older than dirt so i can remember back in days past. thank you so much for your wonderful comment on my poem
