essence of a lie

by Treagal

the thoughtless shaper wets his lips.
with a sip of sweet sickness, he wraps
a tongue around my mind.

he swipes a roguish blade of plastic
incising my chest, exposes my heart,
he reaches out to pluck it.

I sway like a peach tree bursting
at the boughs and bear seedless fruit.

understanding: a pig's stripped form.
ribbons of bacon torn through by gleaming
teeth. his teeth shine like porcelain --
the oozing ivory
of a dive-bar toilet.

wow, you've outdone yourself this time, friend. this really captures the raw pain of being lied to, the dizzy reaction, and the way you feel flayed and dirty about it later.

so much to love: the peach tree, the ribbons of bacon, the dive-bar toilet - all such strong images!

thanks pal-o-mine. it's a good day when one can sense and flush down another's lies. mostly though, it seems like I'm stuck in a perpetual bad day.
