Poems - Morning Mist

Morning Mist

by vexations

Her brow furrows
hard as if etched on flint
deepens gradually
as his heels click
in cadence toward the door.
She feels unworthy of his love
but knows he will return

Grass rests below morning’s mist
does nothing  to merit a nourishing dew.
When in the night love comes like mist 
accept it and know
that mornings will come
when the threat of rain captures the mist
only to send showers later.

No one earns love, 
love comes to be consumed
like grass absorbs
the offering of the morning.

Thanks to those of you who gave me some feedback on this in the workshop.
