Autumn is late this year

Autumn is late this year:
still there are light yachts
floating across the liquid
lake of your eyes
that are limpid with longing
or tears that you had forgotten.

Their sails billow faintly
with a gentle breeze
that will soon induce
the yellow falling of leaves
onto lovers lying
in loose abandon.

Summer lingers still with you,
waiting for you to signal
when you have lost the love
of warmer days and nights
that composed you so closely -

then it will retire,
giving up gracefully
its place to older
and sadder seasons.

      I have had a very relaxing day Oz, no I don't go to the Dawn parades either - I had a lovely lie in too..then I went to the movies to see The Avengers...I like super heroes...was great... Very Happy

'The yachts' is a great touch, Ozzy. Brings life to the subject matter of your poem. Very cool.

    It's a funny thing, Ramonez, in a way the ref to yachts doesn't make sense, but it sort of came into my head and from there it gnawed its way into the poem by force. The rest of the poem makes a certain amount of sense, but the yachts not. Yet I agree with you, it's probably the best part of the poem. I couldn't say why. Just a feeling I have. Thanks for commenting.

I wouldn't worry about the yachts Rory, If they came to you in this wonderful poem then they came for a reason.. Even if you don't know why they painted a wonderful image that frames this fine poem. Really enjoyed it.

    Thanks Wayne. I don't worry about it, it's just one of the things about this world that surprises me. It's good to be surprised. How boring life would be otherwise!
