Poems - Potters' Wheels

Potters' Wheels

Two clay-mounds spin on potters' wheels.
The first we praise and please.
It's born to know how privilege feels,
Begins its life of ease.

The second one we send through hell,
Mold, fire, bake, and glaze.
It'll need a paint design as well
To be the perfect vase.

Two clay-mounds spin on potters' wheels.
The first is blessed by Fate.
Its color and consistency
Are strong beyond debate.

The other one we've poked and cursed
And nearly torn apart.
A shapeless blob remains the first.
Its brother now is art.
