Will you stay with me?

The moon shines bright tonight
Stealing all the starlight
As if it were daylight
My eyes bathed in white light
Still they lack the foresight
To see beyond my dark night

Looking through my fingers
To see what my future is
Like looking out through bars in a prison
With only greyness to look upon within

“Will you stay with me?”
Said the drowning man to the raft
“Will you see me through to the end?”
“This ain’t no love affair, my friend
You can sink when the waves roll in again”
Said the raft to the drowning man.

Beneath the glow of the moon
She stands all alone
Like a pillar in a cathedral
She’s standing so faithful

“Will you stay with me?”
Said I to she
“Will you see me through?”
“This is a love affair so I’ll stay with you”
She said to me
“I will love you for eternity”

I’m looking through her eyes
To see what my future might realise
It’s like looking through a telescope
To a faraway land there lies my hope.

The moon sits with skin translucent white
The stars dance in a carousal of light
We lie beneath and hold each other tight
Full of wonder at this wondrous night.

“We will stay together”
Said one to the other
Until we form part of the sky’s vapour
And our love fills this space infinite
The moon she will remember
The night her skin turned white
And how our love made the stars
Dance in a carousal of light
