shade for eternity

NoteI was asked to repost this, so this is me reposting this. after all these years, I'm still not sold on the title, but owellz, enjoy.

shade for eternity

a shovel full in darkness' keep
where shadows flow, disarm and creep.
by morning dressed in blankets weep;
I pray my lord, my soul to keep.

O eldritch tree with mangled rope
your yellow finger shades my hope,
and cool winds cast a misanthrope
to hang my lord on lichen rope.

these heckling eyes show no remorse,
and brings about a change of course,
the reaper swings on charging horse.
I've failed my lord without remorse.

O eldritch tree in mangled droop
I ask you once with wedding loop.

      pieces like this make me feel like I was a better poet back then. there's no poetry without struggle though, so I will continue, however ineptly that may turn out to be.

        I think your new pieces have a less, straight forward approach...
        Like taking the scenic route.

          fair enough. I've changed recently, becoming a big fan of brevity. making that stick so it's beautiful and rich has been a far more challenging exploration than anything I've done before.

          the scenic routes; oft times they seem to look differently than at first expected or described — for better or worse, and totally subjective. I can dig it! thanks for this lovely conversation, I have been enjoying it thus far.
