hospital

" it hurts all the time and you don't have the time to remember how it was " - like eating glass - bloc party.

the smell......that damn awful smell
everybody has at least one nightmare hospital tale to tell
i've more than a few
and wounds still raw and new

they are not my wounds, except for the scars on my soul
the smell of the sick bowl
sickeningly healthy media types suggesting immortality is the goal
but ask not for whom the bell doth toll.

" sitting late at night. he doesn't make a sound. just adding to the wrinkles on his deathly frown " - old red eyes is back - the beautiful south.

" sell your soul, not your stereo. take your favourite songs and sail away. a world of pain is where it's at " - the world is flat - echobelly.

oh Paul! I know what you mean! I hate that smell! Every time I walk into a hospital my stomach tightens and I just want out. We have a hospital here called Toumey but everyone calls it Tombstone because once you go in you don't have much chance of coming out alive. Gawd! I hate that smell!

    it's very hard to relate smells in poetry i've always found. but i think everybody can relate to that smell of hospitals at some point in their lives.

    thanks glen. just going in to a hospital as a visitor gives me the creeps. though not as bad as going to the vets.......or old trafford ha ha - paul and puppy.

I can relate to the smell. Perhaps that is why everyone brings flowers. I hope your mate is doing better. It is never a fun place to go but the patient is always happy that you have braved the outing. Smile

    hi michelle. i think the smell of cut flowers is part of the hospital smell. i always think that there is something sad about flowers in a bowl, rather than being in the earth - why don't people bring you flowers when you are well? - paul.
