A Dog At The Old Folk's Home - a rondeau redouble

by wolfinwindow

Thor was good the other day.
We took him to the home the old folk's know.
We didn't even ask him to lay,
somehow he just seemed to glow.
He's an old dog, he never seemed to grow.
He lay and wagged when we told him to stay.
When petted, he put his head low.
Thor was good the other day.
We took him to the old folk's home to play.
People petted him all in a row,
everyone said Thor was Okay.
We took him to the home the old folk's know
where he made quite a show,
where he felt at home all day.
He didn't bark or cause a row.
We didn't even ask him to lay.
He knows lay, shake, speak and stay
and if he has room he'll roll.
He did it his way.
Somehow he just seemed to glow.
Thor was good.

I had a beautiful dog named Thor once, got lost in the Queensland floods a couple of years ago - any poem about animals and dogs in particular are tops with me...Loved this Linda..Smile Phoebe

I'm so sorry you lost your thor doggy. I don't know what we would do without our Thor. He goes everywhere with is and sits in the car where he's not wanted. He's so good. Thanks for the nice comment.

Thank you. That was the hardest form besides the sestina I have ever tried. But unlike the sestina I will try the rondeau redouble again. Thanks for the "recipe" lol. Hugs.

G'day Linda...
I enjoyed the repetition Linda and a poem about a friendly dog brings us all together. The unconditional love is beauty.
Thank you Linda
