Creature of Emotion

I’m trying to write emotion in a clear poetic rhyme
Describing something felt not seen is taking up some time
I’m thinking of just ordinary common things to use
And have accepted some of them I’m sure will just amuse

Let’s take this master culprit – always plays a major part
That truly unreliable pumping mass we call a heart
It never does just what it was created here to do
Oh no! it has to get itself into the love game too

We think the heart can think alone – it can’t it has no brain
It calls upon its other ‘friend’ to help apply the pain
That other clever cohort we know just where to find
Residing in its heady loft – our tricky, fickle mind.

Together these two misfits create havoc to us all
They lift us up with passion just to watch us as we fall
We sometimes feel we could be riding on a hurricane
Struck by lightning, tossed by winds, left drowning in the rain.

But then again, amazingly, we actually do survive
When everything is said and done we know that we’re alive
That all these things that happen have a reason and a rhyme
And happen in its’ own sweet way and in its’ own sweet time.

So I guess I’ve done emotion in a clear poetic rhyme
Described just what I felt within a minimum of time
It wasn’t very difficult like I thought that it might be
So now I’m off to make myself a well earned cup of tea.

g'day whipi.

i don't think my brain and my heart communicate any more. they both sort of go off in independant directions...probably a good job...they never got along - paora and my houndish creature of emotion.

What a great poem Phoebe. What I call bush ballad style. Has that great rhyme and meter that is supported by a fine topic.
