We are slowly progressing as a species already over half the voters are enlightened our world is getting more educated slowly ...delight in that the rest are haters and will be their own undoing....peace

There's something to be said about living in a small country, despite the internal problems at least the whole country rallies around doing the "haka" - a cultural war dance adopted by all races here and abroad. Living in a country the size of the United States with the issues it has as Libby says must be very scary. Another passionate write my buddy..xoxoxo

Rondo... I wrote a poem this morning... To honor you and this title and Asif's poem title Shit List... You just don't know how it feels to live in the south these days. The politics are so nasty one gets afraid to speak their mind.

what is ironic is the republican party was the party of Lincoln and what forced the south into civil war ...we see what pandering for votes will do to a platform over time ...thanks Lindsay...peace

rondo, I am in VA - not the deep south, but we certainly call ourselves southerners. And yes, there is a definite narrowmindedness that is backward and ignorant for sure - run by ultra conservative right wingers - who are choking on their so-called "christianity" - which loosely translated means, "if you don't believe as I do, well, you are just doomed to hell and damnation". So sad and sick and yes, very, very scary. Your poem states it well.

of course I know there are great people in the South like you James and Libby it is their saving grace ...my beloved big mouth Bass fishing grounds in east Texas have many as well ....it is you that gives me hope and assurtes me we are still a great nation struggling to find our Identity and through our literature we will achieve a good one Thanks for your courage to be a good human being......peace

i suppose if you drink enough moonshine and have to listen to garth brooks and far right christian radio, then war would be preferable....i'd rather go to afganistan than listen to those born again christian shows, with fat old fakes asking for money for jesus...call me cynical, but i'm not sure jesus ever gets these dollars ha ha - paul and the liberal hound.
