A Question Please

People often ask me to define my poetry'
I raise a well shaped eyebrow and say 'tell me what YOU see?'

Some shift about uncomfortably and look towards the sky
just hoping that an intellectual answer might fly by

From others I detect a gleam of understanding there
I hope they'll take the things I write and ponder them with care

Contemporary reality is what my life's about
I try to put it into words and hope that's what comes out

Sometimes it does most often not it doesn't even rhyme
but like my life predictably it takes it's own sweet time..

Poetry is not easy to define, because of the many genres, styles and of course the reader or the listener. Phoebe, you certainly offer a question that we all have been asked.
