Double Meaning Phrase

by liarbird

When you’ve got a kid at school,
Learning the golden rule,
Like I have one there in an upper grade.
And if he falls behind,
I must say that I don’t mind,
To attend and see the reason why he strayed.

Now his teacher’s quite a ‘cutie’,
An education beauty,
Who didn’t mind my interest with me son,
It’s good to see a Dad,
Teach the skill he had,
To ease a learning crisis, and turn it into none.

I sat in the desk beside him,
To comfort and abide him,
While this ‘cutie’ read a story to the class,
Then she mentioned at the closure,
She needed some exposure,
For a word “adolescent”, but acknowledgment is sparse.

There’s not the raising of one hand,
No child did understand,
Therefore silence wandered heavy from the lot.
So the ‘cutie’ gave a tip,
“Adolescent”, she let slip,
“Is something you all are and I am not”.

Then in the silence raised a hand,
“I think I understand”.
Yes! The words this father classed as learning bliss.
But he knew not what she meant,
‘Cause he said “Adolescent…
Could it be another word for virgin miss?”

    G'day deepali...
Fan club! Crikey deepali, I'd be able to hold meetings in a phone box. I really do appreciate you reading and commenting deepali. If we all do it, it encourages everyone to write more and by doing this we get better plus more enjoyment out of our art, as well as new friendships.
    Thank you deepali

I do have a few like this Rory, but I haven't posted them, they're mainly in my fishing and reptile collections. But I do like writing in this style.
    Thanks again Rory.

    G'day there Linda...
Well I'm pleased that you got a chuckle out of this piece of silliness. By the way, I too get a lot of enjoyment out all the poets here, but I'll whisper 'especially the story tellers Linda.'
