A Quiet Moment

by Phoebe

Sitting on my front door step my doggy by my side
The evening breeze so light, so cool, much nicer than inside.
The chirping of the night cicadas floating on the air
It seems the rain has gone for now, tomorrow’s looking clear

There’s still a little daylight yet I think we’ll have a moon
Well, maybe not, but still I’m sure we’re going to get one soon
I’ve had a rather busy day, but every day’s like that
It’s always nice to meet with colleagues just to have a chat

We casually discuss the many busy things we do
But best of all, I love the times I get to chat to you
I wonder what you’re doing now, so far away from me
Or if that moon that may appear is one you’ll also see

I wonder if our master plan will ever come about
I think with any kind of plan there’s always room for doubt
But still we can but only hope and work towards our goal
And leave alone those things we know are outside our control

Just sitting in the fading light, life couldn’t better this
I press my lips into my palm and blow your way a kiss
From the kitchen smells of cooking drifting out to me
C’mon boy! Let’s go inside, I think it’s time for tea.

~Phoebe~

Sometimes it's those quiet moments that mean the most and linger longest in our minds. Beautiful!

I like this reflective piece. It flirts with wistfulness but manages to stay lighthearted. Nice meter too.

tonight a kiss came floating in and lit upon my cheek
it had a most peculiar scent like that of brewing tea
driven by this strange event and my own curiosity
I soon found its origins from Phoebes poetry Very Happy xoxoxo

I used our very strong connection
    and blew a kiss in your direction;
    without the slightest hesitation
it found your cheek- its destination!
    Very Happy xoxoxo

G'day Phoebe...
Nice flow and rhyme Phoebe. Your topic sets the calmness of a balmy night at sunset.
Thank you Phoebe

I guess sometimes, some of us like to write down what we're doing at sunset Lindsay, and sometimes that's all it takes to create a poem...thank you again my friend....Smile Phoebe
