Poems - The messenger

The messenger

by TheDrummerPoet

Steel, cold in my hand
warming to the touch of my skin
whilst the messenger of death waits
silently in his chamber
anticipating the sound
that will direct him in his journey
so he may deliver his message
of mortality

His path: absolute
His sermon: final
No turning or veering
No hesitation
None.

[sound]

And then
CONTACT!

Flesh meets iron
and the weaker force yields
The red river begins its flow
as life ebbs away silently
The journey is complete
and the message
delivered with fatal finality

My hand lets go
and metal meets earth
An ironic reunion really
I run away
and never look back.

Wow this is like one of those DVD's my teenage cuzzies like to watch about gangsta and hits and drive bys - you should try your hand at script writing - you have great attention to detail... Smile
