Life in Contradiction
I
The sun always appears on the east
And steadily climbs up to its zenith;
Increasing light awakens the beast
To normal routine of life blithe
Nothing rare and no expected difference,
Change the dawning used as reference
Each day we know the sun will be there
As every day we live the life we bet
Through risks and perils from dawn to sunset
To sleep through mysterious nights somewhere
II
Each day song-birds greet the dawn
And then farewell that day at twilight
Another day lived through but then is gone
As life surrenders to another peaceful night
The body rest, the spirit dreams of new tomorrows
And Darkness relieves pains, griefs and sorrows
III
The sun, once more, appears on the east
Muscles and actions spend energy away
Another defeat, another victory, another feast
Inevitable rhythm, rhythm of life, another day
Another day, repeating cycle, awaken time
For life repeats its path in glorious rhyme
IV
And it does go on and on; life goes on
For ever, then, beyond death, at least it seems
By dawn break the same reality we see
By night, we gather once more our own
To rest on pillows dreaming our dreams
Longing for hopes; Truth, for you and me.
V
And then, rich one could perhaps become
Or poor one may reach one’s days’ end
Or in between such extremes; who dares
To say which shall it be, irrelevant say some
It matters, someone may soon defend,
But the fact is that the Ego is who cares.
VI
But, what is east? It could be west
And, what is up? It could be down
Or, what is behind? It could be ahead.
If there is no life, there is no death to rest
Without thoughts, there are no doubts to frown
Without senses, only there’s an empty head.
VII
Reality of life, a ride we all must take
There is no hope for a possible “going back”
All we have or will have exist herein
This trip is, a lonely journey, real or fake
Borrowed are the things we put in our sack
Naked we go, leaving the sack behind, within
VIII
One emphasizes or prioritizes, to be rich in fame
The ride of life is not only for me and you
It is for all living creatures just the same,
For all plants, human, the sun always sets on the west
Yes, for all of us one thing is true, Love is best.
IX
Why, then, if all this is apparently true, we bribe,
Hate, disdain, discriminate, ignore
If we are human, individuals, all the same
We segregate in solitude not known in ancient tribe
Why, then we cause pain, and suffering soar
We point fingers, find faults, others we blame
Why then, if Nature gave all its Love
We meandered ‘till death the road we drove.
