When

by Essex68

When I shut my eyes I see a star
Seems like a distant nebula
I can change its colours at will
While I lay down quite quiet and still

When I sit under a tree
I look at beauty, no others see
Just feel the wind and the gentle tones
The rustling leaves heal aching bones

When I walk the dusty track
I never let my eyes look back
Just keep on plodding without a care
Until my route leads me back there

When I swim just like a fish
I wish I was, oh what a wish
I’d tease you as you cast your worm
For I am wise, you’ll never learn

When I fly above the clouds
Despite the fact I’m not aloud
I just look down in a lucid state
The rains my tears, for Earths disgrace

Your poem gives a beautiful sense of the absolute tranquility that lies in our natural environment below, around and above us Wayne. Those of us living today need to count our blessings as possibly the last of humanity to experience what the true meaning of life is in terms of nature's gifts, gifts that are fast being abused and soon will not only no longer be given but will, very angrily, be taken back...thank you for your lovely write...Smile Phoebe

Wayne an entirely awesome write. and very much deserves the ten stars I am going to give it.

When I sit under a tree
I look at beauty, no others see
Just feel the wind and the gentle tones
The rustling leaves heal aching bones.

Wayne I have my favorite tree; do you have one? Mine is the Live Oak in my yard. If you have time Google the Angel Oak on John's Island South Carolina. There is a fight going on over the development going on in the area of one of the oldest live Oak in America. The Angel Oak is thought to be one of the oldest living organisms east of the Mississippi ...

Well done my friend... BWP... James...
