Dawn Clock

by Phoebe

Sometimes in the morning early
As the nightime drifts away
Moon still hanging low and pearly
Soon to fade with light of day

Comes the noises of the dawning
Sunlight through my window streams
Trilling birds, a rooster crowing
Weaving life into my dreams

Lying still my bed so warming
Eyes still closed yet wide awake
Smiling as I hear the morning
Picking up my sleep to break

Snuggling down I try to fight it
Whispering "morning go away"
"up you get" it tickles softly
"time to start another day!"

~Phoebe~

I know the feeling and I have a favorite stanza here.

Lying still my bed so warming
Eyes still closed yet wide awake
Smiling as I hear the morning
Picking up my sleep to break

The last line of that stanza is pure awesome... Damn I wish I wrote that line.

BWP... Been so busy That I just come on site to post and have little time to read and glad I had the time to read and rate your poem this morning.

I like the playfulness and classic feel, in the style of Emily Dickinson. Have you interviewed her?

And what's really sad Jack is just how closed our minds are to those little things - and not just our minds, lots of things we could use to take notice of things that really do matter - for our own well being..sighsss, I despair sometimes, I really do!! Blessings on your tomorrow too..Very Happy Phoebe
