Digital Age Love Sonnet

I wish I didn't love you so-
for life would be quite easy, then;
I wouldn't wonder if or when
we'll meet amid life's ebb and flow.

And if I didn't love you, Dear,
I'd never need to contemplate
disparities of time and date
in our respective hemispheres.

And if I wasn't such a fool,
you'd be mere pixels on a screen-
I'd find no bitter torment in
the continent, the endless pool,
the barriers that stand between
our lips, our eyes, our hands, our skin.
