The wind whizzing violently
drags like a tornado
gushing through the city.
I open a forgotten sketchbook,
etching bad examples of our world:
guns on cardboard,
killers in a black alley,
tumors circling grandmas
as their children cry,
they suffer alone:
nobody really listens.
The world is designed at the
expense of a women's virginity,
pollution-filled life with
intelligence on the side:
the night, a balloon suffocating
on its own helium, stars staring
dreadfully at human regression.
I cough, my breath filled with pain.
I choke on the idea
that stars arch over us
without speaking a word.
The world will use a coffin
and stuff its problems inside
to forever be forgotten,
but never fixed.

Your poem, especially the depth of detail really fits in with how I'm seeing the world lately... hard, difficult and insensitive. Of course communications brings us mostly the stark and brutal, but it's very easy to believe humanity has become increasingly callous as time goes by. Thanks for your comment, as I enjoy heartfelt and well thought-out comments more than "nice write" which doesn't express at all what the person's reaction to a poem would be. I am glad you are to express the boundaries you have with this world and the way you see the callousness of today's world on the whole. I would say people are insensitive to the way others are treated, to the political difficulties, and even themselves which says one thing: if you are going to toss yourself around like a garbage bag, you will never love another person, because you will look at yourself as poppycock up to other people's standards. That is the way it's been and the way it will always be. The world is contorted beyond belief, and to be honest, I lack hope that there will ever be a repair.

Are we all victims of a perception we're being fed, like an "acceptance virus" so we'll go down quietly resigned to our fate?
I feel bad for our youth who are striving to achieve their full potential in spite of the prevailing wind. Lew's son just graduated college - he's a brand new history teacher in a time of massive layoffs. Just one example...
So it makes me wonder, what will become of all the bright and hardworking folks out there who did exactly what the (former) system asked of them? Now what, smarty-pants in charge?

It's hard to say, especially in a a world marred by others trying to be accepted, trying to respected with the lack of human compassion that will within itself understand these individuals. These bright and hardworking folks who do what these "dead" individuals did, then they will lose in the end run...it is for them to be accepted, but they shouldn't be accepted if they have to run into the cowardly direction.

Another beautifully written piece of poetry! I went back to read it a second time just for the sheer pleasure of the words. You my new friend have quite a way with words yourself! This is really impressive work, I'd be lying if I didn't say again, you have so many great lines in there that I wish I would have come up with them first! Bravo, to a job well done!
