Linguistic Requiem

by rondo

Linguistic Requiem

She was a good girl and honored poetics
Respected meter, was no rhyme cheater
And faithful to aesthetics

But… it all started with an alleged friend
Leading her down to a desperate end
Who said “Just try a Haiku”
And before long it was a few

A shallow thrill that abated her ill
Next thing you know
She is doing lines of prose

At first it seemed innocent
A quick fix for the time she spent
But the ravages of time
Was destroying her rhyme

Withdrawal gnaw
With need for reads
Her beauty fading
Creativity abating

As time went on the demon demanded its toll
Her words became mundane bland and droll
Given over to the ghost of easy post
And the ogre’s of mediocre

I saw her just the other day
Out on the street In her blogging way
Her writes were no longer pretty
I was overwhelmed with pity

I wondered if somehow I might have been able to stop it
So I crumpled some bills and stuffed them in her pocket
Where once was bright and shinning writes
Prose stole another soul Crying or Very sad

You never over dramatise anything, you always have a clear and defining message and lead by example....I mean, I ALWAYS listen to you...*blink! blink!..* so how do you think my potential's going.... Very Happy xoxoxo

the numbers don't lie ! you are the most prolific poet on site....you posted the most poems for the past two quarters (not prose... I mean real poems) add to that the fact that your poems are linguistically sound (legible) and heres the kicker your deep thinking and wide range of styles gives you a quality edge for the eclectic reader...not to mention your stepping up to the plate of late and tackling social issues (to me that puts you into a very elite group).....and as long as you asked.... and this soap box is dangerously high to climb down from....it is one thing to have the technical skill if say Tommyjacksprat or Michael1two but it does them no good if they cant tune it to their audience or dumb it down enough for the average GP reader to enjoy their fine nuance's....no you my dear are right on track as one of the best pioneers of online poetry..... and are already my hero Very Happy thats just my humble opinion....peace

Jeepers Ron, after reading this, the last time I ever had a feeling like the one that instantly came was when I first realised how much I loved Douglas Rewi....we were both 11 years old but he never, ever knew I existed and every time I saw him I went into a kind of coma and my friend Pascaline told me I drooled a lot...reading what you've written is tantamount to my eyes fixed and focused on Douglas Rewi as he strolled across the playground, he was so tall and handsome, my heart pounded and my legs wobbled and I was a total pubescent mess....seriously I've never had anyone write/say anything like that about me ever...I'm truly humbled my darling friend....thank you, nga mihi mahana, nga mihi aroha e te rangatira..xoxoxoxo Very Happy

G'day Ronald...
I guess I'm a rhyme junkie too so I'm right behind this little poem of yours.
Thank you Ronald
