Point of no return

Scratching the skin
of friends yet made
Grasping their hello
in my hands
as a Hail Mary pass
to my heart
But no it was a greeting
not an invitation
The cigarette shared
on the sidewalk
was not a pact to carry
each others
oxygen tank
The joke which still
causes me to chuckle
echoes back at me
as a taunt
Did I get it?
Distance from where
east to west cross paths
Hollow out my whole self
Where I do not have
a playmate.

my saline drip is saltlessly faultless
like scallions or tectonic plates
teared upon whose last supper was served
ruminating with exchanging changes
whilst remaining the same
shaking hands with myself
as i kissed the back of my mirror
ball cringing in nows
cleft pallette
