too small for my britches

too small for my britches

the world is but a stage
if I believe the Bard
but I'm stuffed in a cage
acting myself is hard

it seems the wardrobe guy
gave me garb that pinches
inside I'm six feet high
outside lacking inches

inside I'm two-fifty
but the suit that I wear
seems to be too thrifty
for the spare weight I bear

winning score makes me roar
but it comes out a squeak
I wish I could eat more
but I eat with a beak

more spirit than I use
so much is unexpressed
wonder how much I lose
by not meeting the test

but I got used to it
Dectective Columbo
and I will do our bit
and sometimes win the show

don't have to measure up
that gets rid of the bind
don't need a first-place cup
"most improved" suits me fine

the theme or premise seems to drift but the rhymes and approach are definatly ten stars...grteat work poet Very Happy
