Addiction.

/Am I really all that lazy?
Have I just lost the will to live?
All my memories are hazy,
many thoughts my mind won't retrieve.

At times I want to go to sleep,
feels like time now tells me to retreat,
wish to fall in a trance so deep,
when I'm awake the nightmares just repeat./

A whisper in the wind is telling me to flee,
advising me to go where I have never been,
the things that I can hear don't equal what I see,
the whisper fills my mind with things I've never seen.

Now all is silent, all the roads are being blocked,
I wake up all excited, looking for the door.
Then I hear sirens while my boat is being rocked,
is all of this real or a dreaming metaphor?

The wind whispers again and tells me to make haste,
the temperature around has reached boiling heat,
my sweat, my blood, my tears, I can now clearly taste,
I'm paralyzed with fear as my heart skips a beat.

I try to get out of the way,
but cannot find a place to go,
addiction takes its toll each day,
wish I had quit since long ago.
