Unfulfilled Dream

Unfulfilled Dream

A heart beat in the distance.
Twirling a crucifix between amen and why me.
Yesterday seems so long ago.
When she went through the labor screams.
The blood mixed with water flows.
Into the sewer with all his hope and dreams it goes.
Eyes slowly roll back into a fixed peace.
Sirens surround the surreal scene.
There is a knock upon the door.
A rosary drops to the floor as the police tell her he is no more.
A heart died in the distance.
People walk past a tale from another unfulfilled dream.

This had me from beginning to end. I'd point out a line I like the best, but they are all so rich. Beautiful sadness here... Well written!
