Poems - Haunting Myself

Haunting Myself

Here I am, supressing every memory of then.
Hiding behind my motivation:
one day I'll fix this.
No more people to tell me not to worry,
that it's in the past now.
No, I waste my time trying to figure it all out.
I see a person so mean and selfish...and alone.
Always thinking about her family,
but never let it show.
I take a closer look, and I don't wanna see
that this person in my memories is just reflecting me.
Running away from my past,
so scared of who I used to be
one day made me lose everything
that ever meant a thing to me.
My mom and dad, I'll never see them again.
I was too mad that they broke my heart,
so I never let them back in.
And my sister, she used to be my best friend,
but now she's gone too,
too ashamed of what she did,
to ever try to forget it.
Me, my little sister, and my two other brothers,
never had food, or water or lights,
but we had the love of a father and mother.
Now we have what we wanted,
but it cost us our family.
The person that made this choice,
has never stopped haunting me.

We don't always see the value of people in our lives when we have the chance too. We don't see our closeness till they are no longer with us. Feel so much emotion and sadness in this. Sad
