Dormant

In my darkened days I fight
to release myself from constant February,
when a rebirth is sleeping
under hard packed snow.
The morning frost covers me
With a slumber that’s not quite here,
Not yet gone.

A need to feel the sun,
to find the crocus,
is replaced by the fear of
February.
Moving on. Still,
what will haunt me,
after the thaw,
of frozen solemn solace?
