pumpkins ( rock n' roll poem 5 )

" i used to be a little boy, so old in my shoes " - disarm - the smashing pumpkins.

the bitterness of one who is left alone
can we ever atone?
is it any wonder that i can't sleep
it's not enough.......just a touch
the smashing pumpkins. under my radar, they did creep
not usually my type of band. but they caught me like a rabbit in a hutch.

" i'll burn my eyes out before i give up " - today - the smashing pumpkins.

    oh, it's about a rock band called " the smashing pumpkins ". i didn't get in to the band until after they split up. so i sort of missed them. i missed most of my favourite bands actually - thanks gaily - paulie and the flamingo pup.

    g'day lindsay.
    i'm in danger of writing about bands that only i have heard in my " rock n' roll " poetry series mate ha ha. it just seems too easy to do the big bands. i'd do a poem about " talking heads ", but they are just too complicated and my sex pistols poem is too obscene to publish.

the first time someone mentioned Smashing Pumpkins to me I thought they meant what kids do at halloween! lol! yeah, I'm that old! can we ever atone? not the way the world leaders are taking us these days. many can't sleep wondering what horror they will cast upon us next.

    ha ha. yes. one of those band names that stick in your head. don't know whether we can atone. it may well be the next generation that has to pay for our sins.
    a very pashionate band the pumpkins. one of my favourite pumpkins lines goes " god is empty.......just like me ".

    thanks wolfie. it's always the next generation that pays for the sins of their fathers. one day i'll write my " talking heads rock n' roll " poem and everybody will go " what the f**k? " ha ha - foxy and farty.
