America the Un-Beautiful

America the Un-Beautiful

A child goes to bed hungry tonight.
While tired farmers plow amber waves of grain.
The streets that immigrants once thought were paved with gold.
These same streets buckle under the strain of the gluttonous bold.
Here is the Constitution that created our birth.
This same Constitution has been purged.
And thirty-nine names cry in shame.
Here this decadent country with more guns on the streets than in her armory.
And we wonder why our streets our covered with blood.
Why have we fallen in disrepute?
Maybe the truth lies in the ruse.
The ruse played out between me and you.

Pretty strong words here. I came to read this to defend my country, but I see you pointed out some good truths. America is not the country is used tobe for sure. Good write. Smile
