South Bound Train

I heard the lonely whistle of the south bound train
watched the solitary figure of the man out in the rain
that streamed down in rivers on the windows of the old cafe
in the comfort of my coffee my thoughts went where they may.

And I found myself wondering where you were now
up on a grand stage taking your final bow?
Or were in the arms of another best friends wife?
Are you still living the a super stars life?

Pictures of you and me swirl before my eyes
us in Paris under sunny summer skies
now we're walking arm in arm in New York City
where you looked into my eyes and said I was pretty.

Skiing in Colorado, horseback riding in the mountains
awestruck in a plaza in Rome before a magic fountain.
You and me as lovers in our wedding bed
pictures cluttered up the spaces in my head.

The whistle of the train told of it's travels down the track
could you be on it, to would you come back?
And I wondered would I welcome you or just say good-bye
as the train pass on I begin to cry.
