Flowers in the desert.

by PTROCK4950

Lost in wide open fields,
a highway leading to nowhere.
Lone wolf in my path yields,
he fears my somber stare.

The day's been hot and dry,
can't find what I search for.
I hear a voice; a cry,
and then a slamming door.

Where are those noises coming from?
These are haunted grounds I've been told.
Without a place I could call home,
adventure begins to unfold.

Loud thunder!... Storm moving in,
as dusk approaches very near.
no longer see that vivid scene,
ahead of me when it was clear.

/Flowers in the desert I look for,
rare shiny gems hidden in the sand.
Friendship and love not found in a store,
true appreciation for a hand./

Rain pours down very hard,
I'm soaked but I don't mind.
Lightning drops like a dart,
its mark looking to find.

Scared, run for cover,
go hide under a rock,
wait there 'til is over,
hope I don't get struck.

Storm passes by rather fast,
but leaves great chaos all around.
As morning comes is overcast,
and once again prepare to mount.

The storm has moved, is far by now,
but I still hear the thunder roll,
back to my search, wondering how,
I get starttled by lone wolf's howl.

/Flowers in the desert I look for,
rare shiny gems hidden in the sand.
Friendship and love not found in a store,
true appreciation for a hand./

I look up to the plains,
a shadow standing there!
Blood freezes in my veins,
the sun begins to glare.

A snake eating a mouse,
encounter on the way,
the sight is rather sad,
but not much I can say.

I pray to find what I look for,
and then I hear that voice; that cry,
shadow returns, points at a door,
inviting me to peek inside.

The shadow's Grim Reaper himself,
tells me I'm running out of time,
inside the door I see myself,
calling me out with a loud cry.

/Flowers in the desert I look for,
rare shiny gems hidden in the sand.
Friendship and love not found in a store,
true appreciation for a hand./
