Joan Beales Rose

Joan Rose be ales to me
and be my wiskey too
the fairest rose I see
and I get drunk on you

Four Roses I don't need
Joanie's rose is quicker
with a white lightening speed
you're my choice of liquor

your heaving double blooms
and red tipsy fragrance
might drink away my rooms-
send me to the vagrants

a homeless heart I'll own
and wander aimlessly
til I get dry with Joan-
a rose of health to me

Ah, this poem is so sweet and quite visual, too. Very much reminiscent of a love sweeter than wine song... Enjoyed, Mary Ann
