Building Blocks

Building Blocks

I do not want to have or be known to have thick skin!
I want to feel the pain of heartbreak!
I want to feel the touch of love!
I do not want my heart to become hypertrophic and block me in.
So go ahead and pierce my heart with your words!
I need to feel the pain, but also, touch me with you love!
How can I grow through life without feeling the sharp blade?
Just as how can I go through life without feeling the soft caress of love?
I am not one without the other.
Both build and fulfill my life so that I may go further.
Further in my journey of finding who I truly am.
I believe pain becomes love and love becomes pain.
Both coming from raindrops to nurture a man named James.
I do not sit on a mountain top, and to wisdom I am not attuned.
Yet I have come to understand that feeling pain and love I will never be marrooned.
