Poems - brian

brian

ode to Brian Griffin,
for though he may be
a cartoon dog,
whose presence graces
the halls of Family Guy,
he is an Atheist dog,
the first of its kind
who keeps a gun & a
bottle of scotch in his
safety deposit box
for the day when HE
decides this place is too
much & chooses to end it.

though he may be a shitty
writer,
a male chauvinist of sorts &
occasionally he will eat
Stewie’s feces or somebody else’s
vomit,
he is, for better or for worse,
the kind of cartoon character that
we need out there---
the kind of cartoon character that
stops lying to kids,
painting them pretty pictures of
an afterlife, or an overlooking force
who will come to one’s aid when
trouble arises---
he instead is there for the family he lives
with,
on this planet (though animated) & this
planet alone---
it is no surprise that the master of wit
who created the series & does the
majority of the voices on the show,
resembles the dog in real life,
idealistically &
charismatically---
merci beaucoup, Mr. Macfarlane,
merci.

Family Guy is actually one of the better written shows on tv. And though it is not afraid to tackle controversial issues, it is, ultimately, about the comedy. I like the character Brian..he is interesting, he has depth for a cartoon dog. I like this poem..it is original and well written.
