I Heard The Mountains Calling

by ravingbeauty

When I wake up in the morning
city noises all around
neon lights each street adorning
jack hammers drown out all sound.
the people all hurry on their way
don't take the time for greetings
as they hustle through their day
of martini lunches and two o'clock meetings.
Into the chaos I feel myself falling
I wonder I got to this place,
I hear he mountains calling
come home, come home to peace and grace.

Sidewalks covered in dirt and litter
smog visible in the afternoon air
everyone so angry and so bitter
each feels life for them isn't fair.
Depression fills my head and soul
this in not where I belong
feel I've fallen into some black hole
where did it all go so wrong.
life has become just to appalling
I'm afraid I'll die here in this place
when I hear the mountains calling
come home, come home to peace and grace.

So I'm leaving this life so blind
can no longer stay in this place
going to my mountains I left behind
where I'll be home in peace and grace.
