Reliving

I have grown to swim on rough turbid way
To deep my head within tears of my fear
That wail or sob would cleanse all pain away
So swiftly goes my sail, as dry logs steer

Like new green shoots clothing once flooded land
I braced morning sun as one little child
But the day comes with faded waiting hand
To draw the dark veil so the eye could hide

Yet in deep slumber I held the past dear
For I had known her well to learn her ploys
Her army of folly I dare not fear
They wanton as bees but are sweet decoys

What comes with the new puts the mind to task
When the new unveils with the old in masks
