Played Your Eyes

It is not mine eyes which are deceived
But the ones of those who lie before me

It is not your word that leaves me concerned
But I am concerned you've stolen my words

You may mark my words if you please
But you may not steal my words for free

You may have plagiarized, but I've played your eyes
And my attention is ensnared by a greater prize

Why kill two birds when I may kill a legion?
Why be a lone soldier when I have allegiance?

Why steal my words when you can make your own?
Lest you want the law to burn you from your bones.

I am very much flattered, don't get me wrong
But if only I had known all along.

I may have written this months ago
I may not have, I'll never know.

You may get your own poem, but I am the poet
This rhythm comes naturally, and I own it.

So, you amusing little thief, continue to plagiarize
And I will continue to play your eyes.
